Contest May 2-3
Hello,
I’m Vishnu Bharathram, a junior at Riverdale Country School in New York City. I’m writing to let you know that I’m organizing a two-hour online creative writing contest (poetry and short fiction) open to all high school students.
Participants will have the opportunity to have their work reviewed by a panel of seven award-winning English and creative writing professors whose work has been featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, The Economist, and numerous other publications. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we will be offering the following prizes in each of the two genres:
The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000.
The runner-up will receive $250.
The third-place winner will receive $100.
All winners will receive a collection of books.
The contest will be made available on our website (scribewritingcontest.org) between May 2, 12:00 AM and May 3, 11:59 PM EDT. You can choose to start at any time within this broader window; as soon as you do so, you will be given two hours to submit either a poem or short story in response to the prompt that will appear on your screen.
You don’t need to prepare anything in advance—all you need is two hours of your time. To participate, you must register at scribewritingcontest.org by April 30, 11:59 PM EDT.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out via email at scribewritingcontest@gmail.com. Whether you’re a veteran creative writer or have never written a poem or short story, you’re welcome to participate!
Sincerely,
Vishnu Bharathram
