Working at Home

Academically speaking, it's a good idea to establish a structure for your day. Mornings are best for academic work, while afternoons typically work well for projects (family fun, chores, outdoor ventures). It is important to work each day rather than rushing to get everything done or waiting until the last minute--either way the quality of the learning and product will be compromised. Students should work at least one hour per day on English/Reading assignments. Working every day will ensure a high level of learning that will be sustained throughout the two-week period and ready students for assessments on their readings in English and Reading 8.

While most teachers have given ample work for in-home instruction, try to take advantage of the plenteous resources available online or otherwise for educational enrichment. Whether taking a virtual field trip to a museum, writing an illustrated journal, or reading a favorite book under a fragrant spring flowering tree, replacing "down time" with some of these intentional activities is time well-spent.
